This amazing 125 meter curved pedestrian bridge is locating on the island of Langkawi in Malaysia. The bridge crosses at the top of the Machinchang Mountain and offers an unprecedented view of the landscape. Its construction was a feat as it had to overcome structural challenges at great heights like load management, structural balance from a single point, and the delivery of building materials. However, the build was completed in 2004 and stands as an engineering marvel.

The views that the bridge offers to its visitors is especially notable because of its curved shape. With every step forward the visitors can witness a changing view of the landscape and the panoramic view of the lush green forest and the hazy ocean in the distance is surreal. It’s one of the only places in the world that you can have an unimpeded view and float between mountain peaks. Locals recommend sticking around until you can go up on a clear, sunny morning so that you can have the very best experience.

The bridge closes often for maintenance. There are rumors from locals about lack of maintenance over the years resulting in irreparable corrosion at the main support but these claims haven’t been publicly been supported. Maintenance work is important because obviously its structural marvel must be maintained and the safety of all visitors is of the utmost importance.

If you bridge is temporarily closed, you can still make the most of your visit as the cable car, rope ways, and viewing decks are still available for tourists. Food and drinks are available at the top so you can make a whole afternoon taking in the breadth of the landscape and test your fears at immense, breathtaking heights. The Chinese village at its base is quaint and charming so there’s no reason to delay a trip. If you want views of a lifetime that can’t even be captured on film you’ll have to go see it for yourself.
